In his 1978 text “Necessary Tomorrows”, science-fiction writer Samuel Delany wrote - “We need images of tomorrow, and our people need them more than most.” This quote is extremely relevant in addressing the current societal context that people of color occupy in the United States in the realm of art, media, and performance. RPG launched the AFROFUTURISM Series in January 2014 to be an ongoing project investigating, exploring and reinterpreting black signifiers and culture through technology and a contemporary lens.
RPG will perform 'Untitled Distances', 'Neon Cross' and 'Digital Middle Passage' for this program.
